The National Charleston Day Organization accepts applications for the Dr. Ethel Johnson Greene Scholarship (valued at $1,500) and the Luannie Pitts Taylor Scholarship (valued at $1,000) yearly. Scholarship requirements are listed below. Write your essay and assemble all necessary documentation first and then complete the online application. You cannot save your information to retrieve later. If you have any questions for the committee, send email here.
Minimum Scholarship Requirements
- Deadline to apply is May 1
- Graduating senior from Charleston High School or West Tallahatchie High School in Mississippi
- High School coursework completed by May 23
- Acceptable academic standing
- Applied or accepted to an accredited university, college or junior college for the purpose of pursuing a degree
Required Documents to Submit
- Official copy of high school transcript
- Letter of acceptance from school applicant will attend
- Typed, double spaced essay (300-500 words)
- Two letters of recommendation (qualified individuals: employer, instructor, community representative, personal)
NOTE: Immediate family members cannot submit a letter of recommendation
